The total number of the teaching staff of the faculty is 70: 10 doctors of Sciences, professors, 21 candidates of Sciences, associate Professor. The total number of students is internal form of training and post-graduate students – more than 500 people.
The faculty consists of 6 departments:

During training students get knowledge about all kinds of training, mastering a wide range of production (technology), management and Economics. Among them: transport logistics, technology, transportation and loading and unloading works, management of fleet and port, transport support of foreign trade transactions, legal and commercial work on water transport, basic professional English language.
Graduates can work in the shipping, stevedoring, forwarding, ISP, broker, surveyor, Agency, ship-chandler companies, as well as transport divisions of enterprises and organizations-cargo owners, including those related to foreign trade transportation.

A feature of bachelors and masters of Economics is the profound studying of the disciplines connected with the activity of water transport, such as foreign trade transactions on water transport, taxation of organizations of water transport, the organization of international transport systems, accounting in foreign-economic activity, legal regulation of foreign currency operations, customs regulation of foreign economic activity.
Knowledge of economic processes on sea transport allows graduates to find jobs, to realize himself as not only an expert of financial and economic services of transport companies, commercial, governmen organizations and the state.

Exactly – «ekspluatatsionnogo». So long ago, we have already existed, that business Russian language has changed. There were 50 cadets entered to the faculty who graduated Leningrad High engineering Naval Postgraduate School of Admiral Makarov in July 1955 and February 1956. Four of them were graduated with honors of study. The first chief officer of department was Juriy Fiodorovich Ellinskiy.
In 1952 the chief officer of department became PhD of technical sciences professor Nicolay Dmitrievich Loginov.
Teachers who conduct classes on the exploitative department including such subjects as “Technology and organization of transportation and reloading processes” and “Commercial work on sea transport” mostly were working at the department of “Naval Science”. Its chief was Vladimir Vladimirovich Alecandrovskiy. Since students started to study profile subjects just from the third year then a special department was organized just in 1952. That was a department “Organization of sea transportation”. PhD of jurisprudence professor V. F. Meshera became a chief officer of that department. They were the first.
However, it cannot be said that the new Department did not have a scientific and methodical base. In 1930 in Leningrad nautical College – our forefather of Makarovka – offices were opened faculties mechanization ports and operational. Operational Department in the College was headed by I. A. Khabalov, P. I. Golikov, P. I. Evseev. In 1934 LMС has released the first 24 technician-operator. The last edition of experts in LMС coincided with the beginning of the great Patriotic war and the approaching German armies to Leningrad. However, from March 1944 education resumed, and during that year 85 people entered for studing the profession of machine operators of the port. High quality of graduates were provided with highly qualified staff of teachers, mainly representing the pre-revolutionary naval and engineering schools, the tradition of which were continued in the 1930-40-ies.
The fate of the operational Department of ”Makarovka” was difficult. In December 1958, it was the latest release of the students and the faculty was disbanded. Departments of “Economics and organization of fleet department” and “Geography of sea routes” were transformed into Navigation department, then where they were united. As a result “Economics and organization of sea fleet and geography of sea routes department “, which was renamed in 1966 in the Department of Economics of sea transport and Maritime law. Simultaneously, there was formed the Department of ”Exploitation of marine fleet”.
However, today’s advanced ideas did not lose their enthusiasts .
The Head of the Department of Operation of the marine fleet, in the recent past – fearless scout Karelian front, The Hero of the Soviet Union V. I. Nemchikov. The captain, in those years, the Secretary of Communist party of the College V.I. Snopkov. In their studies, in connection with the improvement of managing methods and the formation of new requirements to the staff of the chief of the school V. S. Gavrilov received the approval of the Ministry of marine fleet of the USSR in the revival of operational specialty. V. I. Nemchikov formed on base of The Department of Operation of the marine fleet the teaching staff revived faculty.
In 1976, Two groups of cadets for their training on the specialty were recruited in Navigation department under the specialty «management and control of transport (water)». In 1978, Operational Department was opened in Navigation Department, where A. L. Stepanov became the Deputy chief of the navigation Department.
24 September 1981 by order of the Minister of sea fleet of the USSR № 197-based operating division of the navigation Department is created faculty of marine transport Management. Graduates began to receive a speciality “the engineer on organization and management of marine transport”.
The main principles of the curriculum for revived faculty were laid down in the article of the Minister of sea fleet of the USSR B. P. Trunova and A. L. Stepanova, “Improving training of operators”, published in 1983 in the journal “Navy fleet”. Main blocks of specialty were defined: technological, economic, management, information, language (English). In late 1980-ies of the curriculum and syllabuses have been vetted London Institute Charter brokers on the certificate of compliance with European requirements.
This «high standard» of the operational level of education are still relevant today.
The faculty was led by G. G. Sedov, A. L. Stepanov, V. V. Shutenko, Y.F.Panteleev, A.V. Kirichenko. Nowadays, the faculty is headed by I. A. Rusinov.
For all years of existence the faculty showed a bright feature. As Pushkin Lyceum, it attracts creative, hard-working, dedicated people who contribute to the atmosphere of scientific creativity. And this is, perhaps, the most important tradition of our scientific and pedagogical community.
The huge contribution to development of faculty and speciality made a doctor of technical Sciences, Professor G. E. Gurevich, doctor of legal Sciences, Professor V. F. Meschera, doctor of economic Sciences, Professor V. I. Kraev, doctor of technical Sciences, Professor L. D.Vetrenko, doctor of technical Sciences, Professor V.I. Snopkov, The hero of the Soviet Union, doctor of technical Sciences, Professor V. I. Nemchikov, doctor of economic Sciences, Professor S. F. Koryakin, candidate of legal Sciences, senior lecturer N. V. Vinogradov, doctor of economic Sciences, Professor A. I. Barabanov, candidate of geographical science, Professor V. N. Koshkin, candidate of technical Sciences, associate Professor K.S. Cerlinca, doctor of technical Sciences, Professor L. M. Gaskov, candidate of economic Sciences, Professor E. L. Limonov, PhD economic science B. Y. Roginsky, Professor V. G. Golubev – and many, many of our colleagues. Unfortunately, life is always too short. At the faculty there is practically no veterans – they die at their posts. Experience is the mother of wisdom.
Nevertheless, the years have been passing. The College has been reorganized as well the faculty was reorganized too. After the furnace rebuild and spontaneous market, responding to relevant quality requirements of modern transport maintenance and level of specialists, today the faculty of International transport management is the training center of international logistics providers, operators of sea and mixed transportations, transport, freight forwarders, stevedores – engineers in the speciality “Organization of transportations and management on transport (water)”, there is a specialization “Management of transport systems”. After the transition to the Bologna system of education bachelor and master’s faculty were opened. Among graduates sectoral Ministers, officials of the main Directorate and Director General, heads of shipping companies, ports and prominent scientists.
The level of training at the faculty and features specialty provide the full demand of its students on the labor market. The task of the faculty, are clear but complex to implement – to save and increase, despite recent reforms, the quality of education, carefully maintaining and developing the 60-year tradition.
